Dual High-End Living Spaces | Carrickfergus
The Challenge: Unsafe Structures & Limited Usability
The homeowners in Carrickfergus required two distinct, high-end outdoor areas that could be enjoyed regardless of the weather. A major obstacle was an old, rotten timber deck in the top corner of the garden, which had become unsafe and was no longer fit for use. The goal was to replace these neglected areas with a cohesive, modern design that maximized the garden’s potential for year-round entertaining.
Our Solution: Year-Round Luxury & Seamless Flow
We worked closely with the homeowners to deliver a layout that balanced aesthetics with practical, all-weather functionality:
- Feature Pergola & Main Patio: We constructed a large porcelain patio as the primary seating area, featuring a bespoke pergola. To ensure year-round use, the pergola was finished with an EPDM rubber roof and equipped with built-in heaters to manage the Northern Ireland climate.
- Curved Porcelain Transformation: We removed the unsafe, rotten decking and replaced it with a sweeping curved porcelain patio. This new area was designed to match the main patio, creating a consistent look across the entire garden.
- Connecting Path & Sleek Borders: To tie the two spaces together, we installed a connecting path and sleek borders, ensuring the transition between levels and areas felt natural and structured.
- Precision Execution: Every element was executed to a high standard, focusing on clean detailing and precision cuts to ensure the finish remains sharp for years to come.

@delandscapes Here’s a full garden transformation we finished recently in Carrickfergus, and it’s turned out absolutely class 🤩 The brief here was clear: the homeowners wanted two proper high-end spaces they could enjoy all year round, and we made it happen. On one side of the garden, we built a large porcelain patio with a feature pergola - complete with built-in heaters and finished off with an EPDM rubber roof so they can enjoy it no matter the weather. Then up in the top corner, we ripped out an old, rotten deck that was never getting used and pretty unsafe. In its place, we installed a sweeping curved porcelain patio to match the main area, with a connecting path and sleek border to tie it all together. We worked closely with the homeowners throughout, making sure the layout made sense for how they wanted to use their space. It’s a space they’re clearly proud of, and already making the most of.
